October 9th, 2022
Tonight at sunset the Feast of Tabernacles for 2022 officially begins. It’s a time of rejoicing for all of God’s people. One day all nations of the earth will be called up to keep this Feast! That will truly be an amazing and wonderful time of peace and prosperity which the earth has never seen. Jesus Christ will rule the earth with His saints. And people will no longer learn the ways of war. But in the meantime only a small percentage of the world population keeps this Feast (also known as Sukkot and the Feast of Booths).
We hopped an early morning taxi to catch an early morning ferry from Dublin to Holyhead. The Irish Sea was a little rough but in a larger boat you don’t feel as many of the waves. On the ferry we managed to meet up with friends of ours, a family of fifteen traveling together. They were supposed to be on a later ferry but theirs was canceled because of the rougher waters. It was nice to have their companionship on the boat, on the bus to the train, and on the train to Llandudno.
The Welsh countryside was beautiful. Mountains and valleys, grassy fields of sheep. Waterways, and even a castle. We arrived in Llandudno in the early afternoon and caught a taxi up the hill to our home away from home. We’re staying along the tram line near one of the entrances to the Great Orme. Plenty of breathtaking views of the bay below, the mountainside and wild goats. It’s probably going to be a hike to get anywhere so to avoid tired legs and being unkempt for services, we’ll take taxis until we get our rental car.
Between meetings and dinner in the evening before services, we ran into some more friends. A couple from London had dinner with Lena and Riley while I rushed off to an ushers meeting. After I came back to the restaurant and finished my meal we ran into a couple from Bricket Wood who we haven’t seen since we were in Israel in 2009. They were kind enough to give us a ride up the hill after services.
The Feast is here and we are excited to be with our brethren in the beautiful, although cold, place. Happy Feast of Tabernacles!
